1 -travel, journey o trip?-
Nota d'usoI sostantivi journey, travel e trip possono essere tutti tradotti con “viaggio”, ma vengono usati in contesti diversi. Travel non viene mai preceduto da un articolo e si usa solo per indicare i viaggi in generale: I like travel books, mi piacciono i libri di viaggio; travel arrangements, preparativi di viaggio. Quando si vuole parlare di un viaggio in particolare si utilizzano invece trip e journey. Journey viene di solito usato per viaggi piuttosto lunghi: How was your journey?, com'è andato il viaggio?; It was a long and difficult journey through the mountains, è stato un viaggio lungo e difficile attraverso le montagne. Trip indica generalmente viaggi più brevi, che spesso comportano un'andata e ritorno in tempi ridotti: a business trip, un viaggio d'affari. A volte trip può essere tradotto con gita: school trip, gita scolastica; one-day trip, gita in giornata. Sia journey che trip vengono spesso usati con la preposizione on: We went on a trip to Salisbury, siamo andati in gita a Salisbury. -
